I was raised on a junkyard – you read that right!
I lived in a home on a Commercial property, set on about three acres in upstate NY. There sat our home, a used car lot out front, a four-bay garage to the side and an automobile junkyard out back! I learned to drive in that junkyard unlike anyone I ever knew… my dad used to chase me around in his tow truck – while I was in REVERSE! He would also throw wheels at me when I would turn the corner - claimed I needed to be ready for anything!
I obtained my first car working for him at the business during my last summer of high school. At the end of the summer, after missing my family vacation with mom and sis, I would earn a car. In one summer, I learned more about cars than a lot of men today know about cars!
Funny story .. the very first day of school, my sister and I went out to the car to drive to school and discovered a flat tire. I ran in the house and told dad and he calmly replied, “so change it.”
OK. Day two, there was yet another flat tire! Again, I changed it. Years later, I learned he simply let the air out! He sure taught me how to change a tire. Is that what they call "tough love"?!
That’s where my story began! While in my early 30s, I dreamed of teaching and educating interested females about their automobiles, since maybe no one taught them, and most weren't raised on junkyards. The Ladies' Car Care Clinic was born some years later. The work I do gives me great satisfaction, and I truly feel like I've found my purpose.
I'm currently 56 years old and have one daughter and two grandsons. I couldn't be more proud of my daughter; she is an amazing woman and mother. She recently graduated with her Master's degree and JUST published her first book, " So, You're Expecting: Unsolicited Advice from an Uncensored Mother"! (I love bragging) I currently work full time as a Sales Administrator for Centurion Brands.
I provide clinics mostly on weekends but can entertain close by events in the evenings. I am committed to providing numerous clinics for not-for-profit organizations as a way of 'sharing my light' that I have been gifted with. I also donate ten percent of my fee to Operation Underground Railroad. My dream in the next four years is to purchase a RV and travel the country spreading my Light! Thanks for stopping by and I hope to meet you soon!
